There are not a lot of rock bands in the world like Ra. Musicianship and real vocals mixed with truly commercial songs that somehow manage to remain intense, mysterious, heavy and exotic. Ra is considered by many to be one of the most underrated hard rock bands still releasing music today.  Like the Egyptian Sun God they are named for, the band is once again ready to showcase its creative power.

Over the course of their 16 year career, the band has had hit songs - "Do You Call My Name", "Fallen Angels", "Don't Turn Away" and “Broken Hearted Soul”  To date, Ra has sold more than 400,000 albums in North America.

After years in the Major label system, the band wanted to take control of their career and decided to go the independent route. After releasing a couple of successful albums independently, the band went on hiatus.  During this break Sahaj in particular has been very active in writing and producing other artists and released a Solo album “Another Minute” in 2012. His songs have been used in various Film, TV and Video game projects.

In the summer of 2012 Ra ran a Kickstarter campaign to raise $15,000.00 for a new recording and exceeded that goal, ultimately raising $32k. This inspired the band – because it was clear that their fans were hungry for new music. Things just seemed to align the universe, bringing the entire original lineup back together to create the record. They channeled that inspiration into Critical Mass, the band’s first album of new material in 4 years.

The album showcases some of the band’s best work and Sahaj's best songwriting. “It’s All Over Now” weaves together Middle Eastern Rhythms with a throbbing guitar and drum attack.  “Anything You Want” integrates a Hip-Hop flavor with a clarion call chorus that still manages to rock hard.  “Won’t Be Home Tonight” meshes Spanish Flamenco guitars with a hard boogie beat that dares you not move your head in unison. “Voices Inside My Head” mindbending rhythm wraps around your ears like a cobra curling in the bottom of a snake charmers basket, ready to strike.  The first single “Supermegadubstep” driving beat and siren call is off to a fast start @ Active Rock radio.  Fans Old and New will find something that appeals to their taste – and challenge their senses as Ra’s Music has always done.
